Below is a 200 point preppers checklist covering all the basics and then some for your convenience and to start you down the journey!.

Food Preparation & Storage Skills

Water Purification and Filtering

Water purification can be done through boiling, using purification tablets or a water purifier, or even making your own multi-level water filter using a bottle, cloth and different types of filtering agents (small rocks, charcoal or sand).

Shooting a Sling Shot

If you find yourself in the wilderness without a weapon, you have little defense against predators looking for an easy meal. A slingshot is an underrated tool that is quick and easy to make from basic materials you can find at home. All you need is a forked stick, rubber tubing, and leather or canvas for the pad. Once you have constructed your slingshot, set up a few targets around your yard and practice aiming and shooting. Wear eye protection and ensure that no one enters your line of sight as you release your ammo.

Finding Your Way Back

It is well known and mentioned repeatedly on the village prepper, you can only survive three days without water, less if you are extremely active or in a dry climate. If you are without water for a couple of days, you can become incapacitated, and finding water at that point could be impossible. Dehydration can cause you to make mistakes you wouldn’t normally make. Finding water should be on the top of your list so find it quick and don’t let it get to a dangerous point. Here is a list of common symptoms of dehydration: dark urine with a very strong odor.

Dehydration can kill us in a matter of days, so we have to drink enough to sustain our bodies. However, we can’t just drink any water for hydration. We humans have a vulnerability to many different organisms that are found in raw water all over the globe. From viruses and bacteria, to amoeba and parasitic worms that cannot be seen with the naked eye, surface water can be both lifesaving and deadly. One of the oldest and most reliable methods for disinfecting raw water is boiling, and there’s an ancient way to do it without a pot or kettle.

Authored by the founder of the boulder outdoor survival school program, larry dean olsen. Outdoor survival skills has taught three generations of wilderness adventurers how to survive in nature without expensive purchased equipment, instead drawing on knowledge of the land and carefully tested techniques, many of them ancient, for finding or creating shelter, fire, tools, water, and plant and animal foods. In this new edition, anecdotes from the author’s lifetime of experience provide thrilling examples of the skills and attitudes that ensure survival outdoors. While some of the techniques discussed in this book are more of historical than practical interest, it still provides a strong foundation in basic skills.
